Paul, is Muttley sleeping in your bed ?

Of course he is. Do you see that as a problem? He also has two other
beds, on the floor at the foot of the bed and downstairs near the
woodstove.

If he is in my bed and I want to go to sleep, I simply tell him so, or
ask him to get down. Sometimes he rolls over and wants a belly rub
first, and then he will get off the bed. He will often sleep with me,
and may come up on invitation or on his own. Sometimes he will lay next
to me with his head on the pillow, but usually he faces the other way
and settles next to my legs or at my feet. If he crowds me, I tell him
to move over or make room, and he moves out of the way.

Paul, now I'm sure that Muttley is your best friend
yet I'm not sure if you know:

How To Be Your Dog's Best Friend ? ? ?

There does not seem to be much information available on that site, and their
book and video appear to be no longer available from them. The monks are
noted mostly for their use of the "Alpha Roll", which is sometimes used by
Cesar Millan but usually not advised for most people to try. Here are some
more informative sites:
http://www.dogsbestfriend.com/puppies/dgall.html
http://www.littlelotushearts.com/meaning_dog.html

Here is a reference to allowing the dog to sleep in your bedroom in his own
bed, but no prohibition of his sleeping in your bed:
http://www.newsketemonks.com/images/...News111607.pdf

Here's a review of the "Divine Canine", which was also a show on Animal
Planet. One comment about someone who had a problem with her dog jumping on
her bed when not invited and not willing to get off when asked. Not a
problem for me and Muttley:
http://petsitusa.com/blog/?p=687

The only reference I found about not letting a dog sleep with you, by the
monks, is here, and the gist of the article suggests otherwise:
http://slate.msn.com/id/2108762/

I think I will leave it at that. And Muttley is my best canine friend,
although I have many others. And I have a number of good human friends as
well. Muttley and I get along well with almost everyone, and even on
internet forums such as
http://community.sessionswithcesar.c....aspx?ForumID= we
are well-liked and participate in very civil and respectful discussions that
involve an attitude of helpfulness without judgment. Here on RPDB, not so
much.

This thread is only for pictures or stories about sleepish (no, not
sheepish), sleepy, or sleeping dogs, or dogs thinking about sleeping
and associated sleep related dog behavior. No fighting about training
methods or vaccination contraindications or canine obesity or old
scores to settle. We can resume fighting in other threads as
appropriate and necessary.

I hope I've given the right link.

This is Ginnie, the Jap Chin. She went to the Bridge last October
and yes, Sabrina bunny is a tad overweight in that pic but she is slimmer
now!

There's nothing wrong with letting your dog sleep on your bed unless it
resource guards or hogs the duvet or snores. That applys to human partners
as well as dogs, heh!

Egads! Those dogs look like they've been horribly abused!
You should be ashamed of yourself!

Absolutely! Poor dogs forced to share one sofa. They should have one each!
The middle one looks like Dogman when he's been on a bender. LOL
