We always teach our dogs to potty in specified areas of the yard rather
than anywhere willy nilly. In this house we have wooded areas on either
side with big tall trees and a permanent bedding of leaves and pine
needles and that's where we want them to go.

Sierra always gets pottied on a leash and I take her to the woods or the
edge of in various locations. Initially if she was off leash playing
and needed to poop again she headed for the strawberry patch or near the
grapevines.

I think she's finally embracing the woods as her preference because off
leash now, she goes straight to the middle of the woods for it, to
whichever stand of trees is closest to her at the time. Good job,
Sierra!
