Believe it or not, Dogman, I commend this post. It was one of your
nicest and did not include name calling. Thank you.

I do believe the attack came before the other, however.

No, that's what caused it. That's what caused it for me.

Go back and look.

Dogman, you are the prime example of a control freak, hall monitor, whiner,
and abuser of newsgroup etiquette. It is ALWAYS you that starts with the
attacks, name calling, profanity, and other components of juvenile bluster.
YOU go back and look!

Not my ignorance, Dogman. I make half my living online and
you don't get there by not understanding websites.
[...]

Sharon, I said NEWSGROUPS. Not websites. You don't understand how
NEWSGROUPS work. And you still don't, if your reply is any indicator.

I think we understand how newsgroups work. And they are supposed to be
places where people may ask for and provide advice, or just discuss topics
of interest to the group. YOU don't understand how your own misconduct may
negatively affect their continuing use.

In reading back thru the archives here, I believe that
many posters believe in what they say and do care about
dogs, but rather than accept the differences of other's beliefs
it seems a common thread to belittle what you don't agree
with or attack the person with the differing point of view.

People here (particularly the regulars) don't normally get
disagreeable simply because someone disagrees with them
about something, but it can get pretty nasty pretty quick if
someone insists, for example, that their way is better than
your way, or is more humane, or that you're a Neanderthal
for even trying to do it that way, yada yada yada. For example,
I'm a traditional trainer. And I also use an e-collar. The mere
mention of which can bring out the bedwetters and
handwringers from miles away, like the scent of a bitch
in heat.

There are rarely any people who act the way you describe, and they deserve
to be confronted with a rational discussion and explanation of why they are
wrong (which is still just an opinion). But you get disagreeable only
because you have a personal agenda against individuals that you dislike, and
your kneejerk attacks are simply flames with undesirable consequences to the
usefulness of the newsgroup.

That said, if you want to be a Hall Monitor, I'd say not one person
would be left standing when you are done. I've read totally off topic
discussions from most of the regulars here.

You bet. A few OT posts don't **** anyone off. But when someone
(especially a newbie) does it constantly, and essentially never makes
an on-topic post, things can get ugly. All threads tend to drift,
especially long ones. But that is discouraged.

I limit my hall monitoring to calling out people for personal attacks

But it's not your job to call out anyone here, Sharon! It's not
anyone's job!

Hey, Dogboy! Read what you wrote here, and tell everyone why YOU seem to
think it is YOUR job.

That's why this is an UNmoderated newsgroup. We chose
NOT to have moderators when we formed this group, because
we didn't want to suppress opinions and views. Not even ones
we disagreed with!

And yet you TRY to suppress posts from people you don't like, even when the
contents of their posts are respectful and reasonable.

And because we understand that with the proper use of your
kill file and filters, a person can do his or her own "moderating,"
and without anyone else having to change his or her behavior.
That's the way free people do it.

I guess that means you are not a free person. Otherwise you would just
killfile me and you would not sully the newsgroup with your vulgarity and
obvious attempts at bullying and whining about your disagreement with my
past and present postings.

For example, if you find my posts offensive, or not
worthy of being read, just plonk me into your kill file
and, voila! Problem solved! And no one has to listen
to all your whining and ragging. See how easy that works?

So, why not take your own advice, Mr. PKB?

That's also why we always encourage people to use
proper newsreaders, which allow for easy plonking,
proper attribution, etc.

Again, *you* have a chance for a do-over. And I hope
that you will take it. But it's up to you.

Char and Schoen? Not so much.

Because they're only here to push agendas and seek attention.

My only agenda is to get you to realize how you are consistently doing those
things that you most complain about. But that assumes a certain level of
intelligence and character. Your continued insane behavior proves that my
"agenda" will continue to fail, but then I do enjoy pushing buttons until I
get either a big explosion or until they no longer provide any reaction.

I'm glad you find that so amusing. Muttley and I have also brightened the
day for people. When I had Muttley with me at the Blues-Fest a few years
ago, we walked by a young woman in a wheelchair. She was happy to be able to
pet him and she gave him a piece of chicken, which made him wag his stubby
tail and made her laugh. On another occasion more recently, Muttley
exchanged very polite greetings with a yellow Lab a young woman was walking
on the NCR trail, and she was very happy to see them get along so well.

Today Muttley is paying close attention to the contractor working on "our
den". He gave him a bone and now he probably expects more. He is a dog
person and he enjoys Muttley's company.

The only way that you could ever brighten anyone's day would be for
them to hear that you had been kidnapped by the Sinaloa drug cartel,
and that, in your long absence (because no one would pay the $10
ransom), poor Muttley was captured by someone who actually cared about
him, and promised to train him, and not keep letting him bite people
and other dogs.

Ole'!
