Webtv had a stroke or something and we lost all rec. ngs..... couldn't
even read 'em for several weeks, but now we appear to be back. If one of you would respond on the group to this note, I'll know for sure. At any rate, that's why the message I •thought• I posted about teaching loose lead walking never showed up on the ng..... It was caught up in the beginning of that "plague"..... And no, I'm not gonna rewrite it all. Jo Wolf Martinez, Georgia |

Thank you both. I was curious to see if anything fascinating had come
up while I was gone.... but all but the strange discussion about "mileage" had dropped off. I've been having an interesting time watching a young rescue Weimaraner in our basic class. The dog has little, if any, useable sight. The owner has had other dogs through our classes, and is a horsewoman.... two very helpful things in training a dog with some physical limitations. We trust this feller's nose and ears, but the owner doesn't, yet. Working on recalls, even ones requiring some problem-solving, he's doing just-fine-thank-you-very-much; finding the owner who is out of sight, inside a doorway, finding the owner who is in motion walking away from the dog. A little help from vocal sounds is still needed on turns. His confidence level is obviously increasing weekly, and he pays attention with a slightly cocked head instead of looking up at his mum. This is the first blind dog I've worked with.... lots of deaf dogs.... Jo Wolf Martinez, Georgia |
