Default Is Your Dog Getting the Right Amount of Vitamins and Minerals? Why itis Necessary

Providing your dog vitamin and mineral supplements is vital to its
health. A dog that whose meals are filled with supplements will have a
healthy life and your dog’s immunity will not be compromised in any
way. This simply means that the dog’s immunity will be very strong.

As a dog owner, it is pertinent that you know that vitamins A, D, E,
and K are fat-soluble vitamins and others are the water-soluble
vitamins. Vitamins like cyanocobalamin, thiamine and pyridoxine and
are important for the proper functioning of the nervous system. A lack
of vitamin A can result in night blindness and lesions on the skin. A
lack of vitamin D in dogs can lead to the softening and weakening of
the bones.

Also ensure you do not give your dog too much vitamins as this can
lead to vitamins intoxicity. A good source of dog vitamin A is cod
liver oil and it is widely acknowledged as a quality feed for dogs.

Not all dogs need vitamin or mineral supplements to have a healthy
life if they have a diet rich in vegetables but it does help. However,
they do become necessary if you notice any unhealthy symptoms in your
dogs. It is recommended you seek the advise of a veterinarian doctor
before proceeding.

Note that frozen fish is deficient of vitamin B1 and therefore has to
be provided to the dog in the form of supplements. It is unwise to
overwhelm your dog with too much supplements. Again, consult your
veterinarian doctor in order not to overdose your dog.

Minerals like calcium, zinc, magnesium, manganese, copper, iron and so
on should be given a lot of emphasis in addition to sodium and
potassium. Zinc gives your dog very good skin, potassium is good for
muscle health while calcium with phosphorus are good for your dog’s
bone health.

If you feed your dog a mixture of meat and vegetables, it is necessary
that you reduce the amount of supplements given as vegetables are rich
in vitamins and minerals. It is advisable you consult your
veterinarian doctor if you want to supplement your dogs food with any
of these nutrients.

Not if you're feeding a good diet.

There is absolutely no way that that can be guaranteed.

Dogs do not need vegetables. Many dogs like them - mine all love them
- and properly processed, they probably get some nutritional value
from them. But vegetables are not necessary in dogs' diets.

Every vitamin and mineral is most beneficial to dogs (and humans) when
it comes from food.

If you feed your dog a diet of meat, with or without a small
percentage of certain vegetables, it is not necessay to give any
supplements.
