what Khan needs is an "up" command.

He has one. It means to get off his big beehind.

harriet would be happy to
help him learn it.

Ooh, I'm pretty sure I'll regret it later. Harriet doesn't teach any
"good" behaviors, does she?

it's good for everything from getting in
the car to getting on the furniture to getting up on the
kitchen counter.

LOL! You tell her to get 'up' on the counter? And here I was, thinking
all the time that that sort of behavior shouldn't be encouraged. BTW,
Khan has a command for getting in the car. Surprisingly enough, it's
'Get in'. He rarely needs the encouragement.

that's "move it," silly!

Clearly, my mistake. Although, I am thinking of using 'Beep, Beep'
(courtesy of Lea) instead.

goodness is all in the eye of the beholder. besides, it's
overrated and no fun.

Khan's sloooowly getting there. Izzy's mom is a phenomenal baker, and
baked some cookies for us yesterday. DH ate half his share, and left
the rest in Saran wrap on the coffee table. We were in the office,
taking care of some stuff, and I turn around to see Khan gently
depositing the rest of the cookie on his towel and proceeding to settle
himself down. I said 'That's not yours' and took it away from him, and
he followed me around for a while, quite possibly thinking that I was
going to be nice and helpful and open the wrapper up for him. These
were sooooft sandwich cookies that melt in your mouth, Khan has such a
gentle mouth that none of it had even crumbled, and the poor guy got to
eat none of it. BTW, this is hugely BAD for him.

how else am i going to get the spilled cat food cleaned up?

Ask the cats for cooperation?

(i covered how clumsy i am in another thread--see, it *was* on
topic!) if i have harriet pre-clean, then i don't get cat
food on the wash cloth.

LOL! So, does she still countersurf when you're not looking (yes, I do
remember the refrigerator incident)?

oh, mine don't need to be encouraged, but i usually need
to make them wait before they get in. "up" is to let them
know it's time to get in.

Aah! Khan's generally very good about waiting for instructions.
However, he feels free to jump into Izzy's car if they leave the door
open. Even when they've just come over for a play date, and not to take
him out with them.

poor boy. not even a crumb?

BTW, this is hugely BAD for him.

uh-oh! it's a slippery slope. before you know it, Khan will
be sleeping on the bed (see message ID:
) and planting
potatoes around the house (see message ID:
). see what you have to
look forward to?

Ask the cats for cooperation?

you don't actually think they'd eat cat food that spilled on
the counter, do you? the only thing they eat off the counter
is people food, thankyouverymuch.

LOL! So, does she still countersurf when you're not looking (yes, I do

she's not much concerned whether i'm watching or not.
sometimes, if i'm right there, she'll put her front feet up
and casually look over her shoulder to see if i'm going to
tell her to mind her manners.

maybe Khan wants to go back to Izzy's so he can boss her
around some more? perhaps he feels he didn't finish the job?
