Default Seattle dogs beat the heat?

Hello everybody. This is the post where the rest of the world gets to laugh
at us left coasters. The temp has been in the mid 80's the last week, and I
think it hit 90 today! Took Stacey Dog to splash in the water at our secret
spot. She was a bit cranky and wasn't listening too well, go figure.
Mostly she wanted to eat duck crap.

So what are you doing to keep your doggie cool? I always walk her in the
early AM. I have shortened our evening walks, slowed the pace, and
sometimes soak her neck ruff with water before we start. Any other ideas?
She has zero interest in a kiddie pool. And I'm not taking miss cranky to
Madison Park. jdoee

On the news tonight they were saying that there are no more air
conditioners left for sale in the area. I heard an employee at Costco
today tell someone the nearest available air conditioners are in Alaska!

I've been putting ice cubes in the water dishes. I leave a lot of fans
running in the house. Today the cooling bandanas I ordered arrived
(http://tinyurl.com/ilfk) and those seem to help. The ones I got off
ebay for me also arrived today, and they do work somewhat.

Mostly, we're all sleeping a lot in front of the fans. Someone told me
it's going to be in the 90s again next week - any of you other Seattle-
area folks hear anything about that?

Yep. They're saying on the news that the earth slipped in its orbit,
and is now closer to the sun so it's going to be this way from now on.
Pretty soon you won't be able to get an air conditioner even in
Alaska.

I am north of Bellingham and it is hot during the day but cool at
night, so far.

Charlie
