how about a fence?

Yup, that seems like the best option. I think the OP wants some kind of
spray deterrent or some such thing, though, given how he glosses the
fence suggestions. I am not aware of any product you can put on the tree
to reliably deter most dogs from it.

You can tell them that it doesn't work. Unless they're planning on
leaving the dogs outside overnight, in a position to chase off any
intruders. We lost a couple of cherry and plum trees to deer, and most
of the damage was done while we were sleeping.

I have read, and it seems to work in my small garden, that
copious amounts of dog hair spread around the area will be a
deterrent to deer, rabbits, and critters - for a couple of weeks,
anyhow. It's not very attractive, but at least it's biodegradable.

i live in a condo, so the fence is not going up. its just she goes from
tree to tree around our unit. she knows the rules but dosen't use them.
thanx, but it dosen't look like i can get any help on this one. i wonder
how she would like skunk scent on her front porch every night. a little
bit goes a long way.
