trotter.net: OK, how about this one.... I'm in Quebec, a primarily French speaking region. At home my wife and I communicate in English. Out of habbit she would like to issue French commands to Amarok. I would prefer English (even though Dutch is my native language, lol). Usually you see recommended to use one word for a command only.... What's your take? Hey Neighbour!!! Another quebecer!! I am in Gatineau (Hull sector). I am originally english, while my fiancee is french. What I could suggest (and keep in mind that I am not a trainer or anything like that) is to start out in one language, be it french or english, but make sure that you get hand commands in it as well. Once Amarok has completely understood the original commands/signals, you might be able to fire in the other language while using the hand signal. -- ******************************************* Marcel Beaudoin & Moogli ******************************************* 'In a lifetime, the average cat sheds 14.95 lbs. of fur.' ******************************************* |

Khan "speaks" a couple of languages, and picking up one of those was completely accidental. Every once in a while, we'd slip and ask him to do something in a language other than English, and as long as we were using a hand signal that he was familiar with, he complied. For that matter, I am sure that all of our dogs answer to more than one name, although we've probably not put any effort into teaching them their alternate names. Suja |
