Helllo....has anyone experienced their female in heat yet. Our first
time....wondering how long it takes...we noticed our puppy being bitching
but has not started her period yet.....any info will help....thanks

Please do her - and the millions of dogs put to sleep in shelters every year -
a favor and spay her before she reaches her first heat.

She will be in full heat days before you see any fluid. Watch for
swelling and change in color. Some bitches keep themselves so clean
that you may never see any discharge.

How old is this pup? The behavior changes you are seeing may not be
related to heat cycles at all. If so, you could be able to get her
spayed before she has that 1st heat.

Sorry...but I was not asking for your opinion on if we should spay her. I
was asking if you had any info. on a a dogs first heat. I am a responisble
dog owner and I don;t plan on breeding her. There is another reason we don't
plan on spaying her right now...but I don't have to explain this to
you.......
