I just checked the "german server"- I'm able to connect
again, but all the messages after the time that I became
unable to connect are "no longer available on the server".
For example, the first four posts in the thread "Orson does
not have HD" are there, but all the ones after it are gone.

thank you! i was just in the middle of trying to figure out
if i'd fubared something in Pine or if it was a server issue.
i'm getting a "no state for X newsgroup" message, with 0
messages available. from the help info i've been able to
find, it sounded like it was a server issue, but i'm always
ready to believe i messed something up.

it *was* working briefly, though!

for some reason the original posts in this thread aren't
showing for me.

All the posts (in all threads, AFAICT) after about 11:00 EST are missing
from dfn.de. The headers were there, but when I tried to open one I'd
previously read, I got a message saying the post had been removed. After
resetting and re-downloading, all those posts were gone.

it's back up, but not functioning
very well. i'm unable to post through it.

I'm about to try to send this one- we'll see.

i'm assuming it's worm related.

I'm betting it is. The MVA here went down yesterday.. my father went to
renew his driver's license yesteday, and couldn't. Front-page article in the
paper today about how the fix for the worm was out weeks ago, why didn't the
MVA use it...

my ISP is bOorken, too, in a major way. they're 100% dead in
the water. i'm suffering from e-mail withdrawl.

Mine was having trouble a couple of days ago, but never went 100% down.
'course I'm using MSN, which I should hope was tad better prepared.

when did you try it? they seem to have reset itself.
this morning i was able to d/l what appears to be a full set
of posts (10K+/-). i haven't been able to post *through* the
Berlin server, but it's updating with new posts from other
servers.

at least my ISP seems to be back up and running. hallelujah!

for the same reason nobody else did, i guess. i had to laugh
(on the inside) when people at work got it (a couple of them
on both work and home machines). lalala. i live dangerously,
with no AV software at *all* on my home machine, but i've yet
to get anything. i'm pretty careful about what i bring in,
though, and that seems to make a huge difference.

you'd think so, but stranger things have happened.

(now, if they'd just get the damned blowers fixed at work.
the AC has been down for days and it's syrupy in here. ugh!)
