In regards to hurricane Isabel...I despise all the fear-mongering that the
press is doing so I don't want to join their ranks. I just wanted to say that I hope those of you living on the east coast have an emergency plan in place for your families and pets. If you don't, now might be a good time to make one. If by Thursday, Charleston is removed from the line of fire, anyone wishing to come to this area as an escape, can email me privately and I'll help you find accomodations. I'd offer my house but there's literally no extra sleeping space. With my contacts throughout NC & SC though, helping to locate a pet-friendly hotel shouldn't be difficult. -- Tara |

Subject: East Coast Emergency Plan
From: "Tara O." Date: Mon, Sep 15, 2003 2:00 PM Message-id: Hi Tara~ Well, it has been awhile since we had any big devastation here, I think 8 years this October. Then it knocked down our barn, tore up a dozen trees, took part of the wood roof off, and our dune shack, had water in it according to the water line, 7 feet high. It was quite the bad time here. This afternoon though down at the dock all the guys were talking about the weather. The fishermen have decided to batten down the hatches and hunker down after Wednesday as it is going be rough out on the seas. Even these past few days while we were out, the ocean was swarming, the waves were high and it was blowing about 20 knots. Some, who have smaller boats, are hauling them in land. I guess by the weekend we will know what is going to happen. Thankfully here we have a safe place for the dogs. We also had a course recently on how to care for your animals when emergency strikes. A Good Thing In the mean time any of you that are South of me and on the coast, hopefully Isabel will not visit. All Good Thoughts Paulette~ |

I wasn't worried (what, DC? Hurricane? pshaw!) but then I saw the projected path in the Washington Post (at http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv.../hurricane_091 503.htm, all on one line of course). -- Kevin Michael Vail | Dogbert: That's circular reasoning. | Dilbert: I prefer to think of it as no loose ends. http://www.vaildc.net/kevin/ |
