Default House training

Hi everyone, i picked up Atlas on thursday night, he is a little bugger!! He
didnt really have a pattern to going to the toilet the first night, i would
stay out for a while with him and he wouldnt go, then when i took him out
the next time he would go then go again inside.

But i spent last night getting up every 3 hours and waiting for him to go,
now the second his feet touch the ground he pees or poos

Things seem to be going well, he knows no means no, i have started to train
him to sit and wait and he is going pretty well with it, we start puppy
school thursday week so that will be fun

I don't know if you're already doing this, but make sure to say "potty" or
some other word as soon as he starts going.

Trust me, very useful command.

When I got Regie at age 6 from the shelter he was not house trained.
Only took a month or so, but when I'd find him lifting his leg, I'd
leash him (had too in my complex) and wisk him outdoors, and praise
praise and use my phrase "go pee pee". Then when we'd get back in the
house I'd give him a dog treat. I also would take him out first thing
in the morning, treats for doing anything, then later he got them for
poop. Out at lunch time, same thing and about 30 mins after dinner,
and once before bed time. This was consistent, and by the clock.

If for some reason he didn't do anything or he didn't have to go, it
got to the point where he would come up to me, ARF, and dash towards
the door where I have the leash. Then I knew he was totally house
trained. I still give him treats to this day. He can go out in the
back now by himself, but when he comes back bouncing and happy I knew
what he did, and he does his happy give me a treat dance hahaha.
