Ask vet about deer poop, probably there are some worms or something
specific in your area.

I have read your 'Question II' so:
does the dog actually eat it? Not every dog does.
Smell-toss-lick is probably OK. Try to distract the dog with food or
play like no big deal. Always have something more attractive than
deer poop ready.
You can also ask Jerry how to train deers not to poop in the yard :-)

The only time Image had a seizure was after eating moose
poop. Her then-owners were told that while it's rare it's
not completely unheard-of.

I don't like to let my guys eat critter poop because of
parasites.
