Default Yorkie

Just looking for some suggestions as to housebreaking my 1 yr old male
neutered Yorkie. He is partially trained but no where near where he should
be for his age. I have had other pups in the past who seemed to train so
much easier than him. I love the little guy to death and I just want to
overcome this hurdle.

I had a yorkie and he was 6 months old when I got him, I never could get him
housebroke, I have also had smaller breed dogs in the past and it seems to
me they all have the same problem. I have also had larger breeds of dogs
and it has never been an issue, I don't know if it is a problem with a
smaller bladder, stubbornness, or what exactly. You might try giving treats
ONLY when you take him out and he does his duty. That way he should get the
point. Also it helps if you can use a crate and limit his intake of water
of course using common sense, i.e. hot weather more water. Also take him
out frequently about every hour consistently for a week and he should get
the point. If none of this works he will probably never be broke, also, you
didn't mention at what age you got him or what kind of environment he came
from. All this matters too. Early training is priceless. Good luck.
