Greetings,
I have a 5.5 month old pure bred Harlequin Great Dane, Tank, and he has been diagnosed by a vet as having Cherry Eye. Anyone have any personal information on this problem? I have read that there are basically 3 different options, 4 if you consider doing nothing an option; 1. Remove the protruding tear duct gland using knife or laser - Serious implications for dry eye later in life 2. Stitching the gland back in place - At best 55-60% effective - The knot may cause rubbing and discomfort 3. Creating a pocket in the mucous membrane and stuffing the gland into this pocket - 85-90% effective - Not sure of the implications Any and all insights greatly appreciated. I also understand the longer we wait the more damage this can cause. Kurt & Tank |
