Any suggestions on how to protect a dog and ones self from a vicious
dog attack?

if you were actually interested in helping the owner, instead
of, say, spammityspamspaming for your BYB message board, you
could try directing whomever is having the problem to post
his/her question to rpd.behavior. HTH!
