Sorry. I was using Netscape to post my messages and the default was set
to HTML. I *thought* I had changed it successfully to not use HTML, but apparently not before this. I'm both Mom2adog and Nat! And here's what I wrote, now in PLAIN TEXT format: I make sure and tell my 4-year old golden retriever EVERY day how much I love her and how happy I am that she's in my life. I tell her how beautiful she is, and how smart she is, what a clever girl she is (which is all the truth of course). I waited years to have my own golden and I tell her how it was worth the wait. I know she understands the words I say, as I say them all the time. As for talking back, my girl definitely does occasionally "talk back" like a sassy little girl would. My golden will throw a 'temper tantrum' if she doesn't get her way; she stomps her foot and makes the funniest noises. In the mornings when madame wants her breakfast, she wakes me up by strumming the mini-blinds in my bedroom like a harp. She'll escalate to hitting me with her paw if I don't get up. Spoiled? Oh yeah. Spoiled rotten. She's so smart it's scary sometimes. I don't think I'd change a thing about her. She's perfect in her own imperfect way and every day is a blessing that I have her!
