Default Questions on our dog's health....

A week ago our dog "Juju" started to have diarea. I called my vet an
he recommended Imodium, rice and boiled hambuger to stop the problem.
He also said to bring a stool sample in to be analyzed. The promblem
is still there. I am going to bring her to our vet, but has anyone
had this problem with your pet dog? She is a pitbull breed, aprx 8yrs
old. She is still plays and drinks water (wife said, not enough
water). She seems to have a healthy appetite. Not much differance in
mood behavior. Could it be a virus, something she ate (stick,
plastic..etc) or something more serious? Thank you for your time! Gene

Hi,
diarrhea can be caused by several things, yes, your dog might have eaten
something that upset her stomach, but first of all I would recommend taking
her and a stool sample to the vet.It could be coccidiae(even though is more
common in puppies)or any kind of intestinal parasites,or she ate something
she's not used to! My dogs love chicken, for instance, but it always causes
severe diarrhea..! Make sure she drinks a lot though and the rice is
great, just boil it for a while and then keep some of the cooking water and
after it cools down , mix it with the rice and her usual diet,it does
wonders....!
I would take her to the vet though, just to make sure.
Good luck
