ingredients that come from feces. (enteroccous faecium which, BTW, has a

on it)

I highly recommend educating yourself on the value of probiotics. They
are playing a part in many a young doctor's medical education.

What's the value in having this for HEALTHY DOGS???? I can see some value in
treating sick dogs...but perfectly healthy dogs?? There are a whole bunch of
people on this board that rail on and on about ingredients in dog food and then
convienently look the other way on this one. I just find it quite curious,
that's all. shrug

I've had my golden on Candiae for 3.5 years now. She inhales her food,
but that's a retriever for ya.... I started her off on Innova, which is
another very high quality food with human-grade ingredients. You might
try that one. I switched because my dog had gotten picky about the
Innova and then I noticed her stools were soft so I figured it wasn't
working with her particular digestive system. But Innova is a wonderful
dog food and I can highly recommend it. Also, if you're going to switch
foods, make sure you introduce the new food slowly, over several days to
help avoid tummy upsets in your Sheltie.

I need a good reccomendation on premium dog food. My 2 yr old Sheltie just
got tired of Canidae. He's been eating it for about a year. He usually
gets bored with food in 8-12 months.
I am trying California Natural but it might be too rich for him. His stools
are a little loose.
Any suggestions?

Just for the record, there is no dog food that uses "human grade ingredients".
Once an ingredient enters a pet food facility it automatically becomes
designated "unfit for human consumption".

But Innova is a wonderful
dog food and I can highly recommend it.

Also for the record it is a puppy food (designated for all life stages) that
could have levels of phosphorus, protein, calcium, fat, etc. that aren't as
appropriate for an adult dog.
