Default Dogs & food scraps?

What's the general feeling on feeding dogs table scraps? We all know dogs
love "human food"
My dogs get their normal dog food but depending on what we are having for a
meal I reduce the amount of their food. I don't feed them junk / fast food
but if we are having a roast dinner or casserole they always have some as
well.
I've leaned a lot recently via the NG's about what's bad etc for dogs to eat
and I'm starting to worry if I'm doing more harm than good.

.......I by scraps you mean what you would toss in the garbage as not fit for
yourself (like hunks of fat from meat) - the answer is no. Otherwise you
can add nutritious human food to dog food to about the tune of 10% of total
food intake w/o upsetting the balance much.

Sorry if I didn't explain myself well enough. I meant giving the dogs what
we eat. e.g a roast dinner or casserole, when too much has been cooked
(which I often do with the dogs in mind) fresh cooked veg, some chicken or
beef (both cooked). I suppose I don't mean scraps more like human food.

my food!

I've lost count how many tubs of butter I have thrown away!!!! Neither of my
dogs are obese or overweight, if leftovers / scraps are given then their
normal dog food id reduced. The dogs like a change like we do and enjoy a
roast beef dinner with veggies.

Heh. We have had two "butter butts" who were not named that because they
were overweight. Neither of the two dogs in question cared if the paper
wrapper was on, they ate it wrapper & all. Needless to say, butter is
never out on a counter.
