As for Max "get this":

His veterinarian was concerned that the marked struvite crystals
in Max's urine were indicative of uroliths.

The veterinary nutritioninst, DVM, PhD, however, apparently is not concerned
with the struvite crystals.

Just got another note from Dr. Remillard. She reports that most
dogs rarely form more than one kind of urolith but all will
form some crystals of one kind or another. Apparently,
she thinks that all is going well. (She also noted that increased
levels of struvite crystals would be expected with the higher
urine PH.)

I'll discuss this with Max's vet.
