Warning about Dog Trainer by
DogStar716
"Place" is one of the 1st things I teach a pup, along with 30-60
minutes of sitting on the lead a day, ignoring the dog, to teach
patience & self control
Ok, I understand this. My dogs know place and out, they do it while I am
there.
However, how do you, without prevention or being there,...

The Future Is Now? by
Leah
I've spoken of going out on my own in the future. But I've become aware of a
piece of property available NOW that will so fit my needs that I have to try to
find a way to have it.
It's a 1248 sf mobile home (I've only seen pictures, but the inside looks
gorgeous!). It sits on 5 acres of pasture,...

I Got Bitten Today by
Debbie S
From: (Robin=A0Nuttall)
In agility, it's common for people to just throw up their hands and
say "I can't control his barking!"
Absolutely! There appears to be a certain cachet to having a barking BC
or Aussie. I abhor a barking maniac, and won't tolerate it, in my own
dogs,...

How to get a dog and cat friendly with each other? by
Ctgwen
I have a 10mo mini dachshund (I know, badger dog - probably doesnt' help!) that
finds great joy in hunting down our cat adn barking endlessly at it until she
is removed which I do asap. The cat has taken a couple ofswats which I thought
would handle it. Unfortunately now the boxer who originally...

Dog's leg to be amputated by
Carol
My friend's dog was hit by a car last week. Her rear leg was badly
injured. They tried to save it but the bone just isn't healthy
enough. She's due for amputation the day after tomorrow (Sept 2). My
friend is a basket case.
Can anyone tell me what she should expect. This is a medium size...

OT--Deleting nasty spam by
Marie
A piece of *really* nasty spam has made it through my spamkiller, and it's
driving me nuts. As soon as it tries to open, it launches a window saying
"to properly view this you need to download the following components." It
*then* immediately opens another window giving the "option" of...

Teaching a 2 yr old to heel... by
Stuart Friedman
She is a Brittany, "rescued" from a family that had her in a small fenced
yard. When I walk her in the woods, she really strains the leash, although
over the 5 days I have had her, she does seem to be learning (Woodhouse
method). It seems she is so distracted by all the smells that it is hard...

Sure. I don't have anyone on the west coast that I'm interested in...

Not a black dog (I know, no worries there!), but only because I'd
never, ever want to have to...

Toby's home by
Kevin Michael Vail
We picked up Toby's cremains tonight. I did not expect to be as
emotional as I got--managed to make it out of the vet's office OK but
totally lost it by the time I got to the car; David wasn't in much
better shape, but someone had to drive.
It's such a little box, how can it possibly hold the...

Thunderstorm phobic dog by
WhansaMi
Our geriatric BC/GR mix, who has always been afraid of t-storms, has developed
a full-fledged phobia in the last few months. What used to be panting, pacing
and trembling has turned into what appears to be absolute terror, with a
panicked run and hysterical trembling.
Our vet has provided Valium...

control their excitement most of the time, who just act, well, dumb and

Labradoodle by
Rae O'Malley
I recently heard about a newer breed of dog called a Labradoodle, a mix
between a Lab and a Poodle, and I was wanting to find out if anyone knows of
any good breeders. Also how much would a puppy cost?

From:
In the grand scheme of things, it is not exactly "evil" to want a
Sport Collie instead of a Border Collie, but at the same time, I wish
the demand would go away. Instead, it's increasing.
And it's going to keep increasing. The sport breeder I'm considering...

Now, that was Quick! (Was NADAC reg. #) by
Shelly & The Boys
Okay...I received Coda's NADAC number in my email box this a.m.
Will I need to provide proof at the trial, or, will the number listed
on his entry card be enough for now?
The reason I ask this is because on the premium, it specifically
states:
"Dogs must be registered and have a valid registration...

Miracle cure by

Noticed something a little odd about Khan this morning. He appeared to
be holding himself funny, a little scrunched over. And, kept attempting
to sit, like he couldn't stand up for more than a second. He went
downstairs to his favorite sleeping spot, but I kept having nagging
doubts about how...
