Alert barking at nothing... by Phyrie[_3_]
Kiba is our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. He has been a wonderful dog, although he has some health issues. He has had knee surgery for a luxating patella, he has herniated a disk in his back and was on crate rest for months last year, and suffers with allergies. My husband calls him "Steve...

Canine Porphyromonas (i.e. Periodontal) Vaccine by sighthounds & siberians
Has anybody used the relatively new dental vaccine with their dogs? Sighthounds are known for developing plaque and my vet mentioned this vaccine when he was here today (after telling me how many dogs need dentals...). I was wondering whether anybody has experience with it.

Humping - update by starcat
The squirtgun tip worked GREAT! I have been very consistent about not allowing any humping at all, which has slowly but surely had an effect, but there have been a couple of times he hasn't gotten the message, and the mere sight of "Mr. Squirty" was enough to make him sit his butt right down....

Muttley and the lawn mower; Muttley cools off in the stream by Paul E. Schoen[_4_]
I just uploaded a couple more video clips to You Tube: MowingMuttley49: I took this clip while mowing the high grass, weeds, and even small trees that have grown up in the three weeks or so since I last did that. Muttley really helped a lot by pulling the mower up the hill while I pushed...

Raw feeding, fasting, and energy levels... by Phyrie[_3_]
Although I think this belongs more in .health, but I'm posting in .behaviour too, because it is a behaviour, too, sort of. I've been raw-feeding my 3 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Kiba for three months now. We started this because he suffers awful allergies, although both the vet and...

Query, bicycle riding and dogs running beside by cshenk
Hi, Anyone doing this and any specific pitfalls to look for (other than obviously the dog has to run straight and either leash-free or slack leash). I couldnt go at 'speed' with Cash (he's not allowed to) but if I just lazed along, it would work? Start with Charlotte jogging him on leash and...

I haven't seen a new post here in days. My news server had some problems, and I wonder if it is still having them. This is just a test post to see if I am getting messages from the group.

My puppy has serious separation anxiety. Help! by Carly S.
My 5 month old puppy has serious separation anxiety. We've tried all sorts of things; everything from crating (which was a disaster) to letting him roam in the living room. He was doing OK for a little while, and now all of a sudden he's trying to chew his way through the front door. It's not like...

Here's a behavior for you - humping by starcat
Here's my question: Should you stop your dog from humping other dogs? Let the dogs work it out among themselves? Remy has been known to be quite the little humper when playing with his dog buddies, and I get conflicting opinions on what to do, depending on who I ask. He was neutered at 6...
