For Her Royal Highness by
Dogman[_3_]
I've seen several attempts to talk to me that were not well received
here. End result, they go into hiding.
Which attempts??? Please be specific.
You didn't answer that question either, which helps to convince me
that you're also a pathological liar. Or delusional.
Who are these people...

Sierra and her crate by
Sharon Delarose[_2_]
I do believe she is embracing the crate as her "home". I've been
putting treats in there and giving her a toy that she only gets when
she's in there, trying to make it not be a bad place for her.
Last night she snagged Dakota's bone, ran to the crate and tossed it
inside.

Matt and Dogplay by
Sharon Delarose[_2_]
This is a small world indeed! In going thru your websites, Matt, I
found links to Diane Blackman's Dogplay site.
I know Diane Blackman from t-shirt forums that we both frequent. She is
someone I have a great respect for. She's good people!

Keep away by
Sharon Delarose[_2_]
Dakota and Sierra have started playing keep away outdoors where one will
have an object and run around daring the other to take it. Most of the
time they swap off, one has it then the other has it, except for one
item which Dakota doesn't ever let Sierra have but they still run around
and...

Pooping in the woods by
Sharon Delarose[_2_]
We always teach our dogs to potty in specified areas of the yard rather
than anywhere willy nilly. In this house we have wooded areas on either
side with big tall trees and a permanent bedding of leaves and pine
needles and that's where we want them to go.
Sierra always gets pottied on a leash...

Shadows. by
Jay Kaner
Our 6 month old Border Collie keeps trying to bite shadows. She chases them
if they move, trying to bite them. I know it sounds daft, but she does!!
As I'm sat here typing, part of my shadow from the room's light is moving on
the wall at the side us and Poppy is rubbing her snout against the...

Answer to sonofdog by
Sharon Delarose[_2_]
Regarding Sierra gently taking a treat from my hand:
Sierra is about halfway to the gentle treat stage. She is no longer
Jaws in a feeding frenzy. Neither has she achieved what I call
"butterfly wings" status. She's definitely getting the message.

Sleep time and wake time by
Sharon Delarose[_2_]
Sierra did not do as well her second night in the bedroom with us. We
put her in the pen and she immediately started whining. That was
expected as that's what she does in the crate but settles down quietly
very quickly as we don't reward the behavior.
Last night, however, instead of settling...

Dog harness by
Sharon Delarose[_2_]
We've actually got a bit of a problem with Dakota. Maybe someone here
can offer a suggestion.
She's built somewhat like a greyhound with a really deep chest that
comes down almost to a point. We've tried every harness at Petsmart in
different sizes but the ones that seem to fit end up...

Sierra slept peacefully by
Sharon Delarose[_2_]
Sierra had a good night with us. She slept peacefully in our room. A
few peeps here and there but overall she settled in.
She has a very deep voiced bark. She's only barked a couple of times in
the last week but when she does, it stands out. She has quite a
plethora of moans and groans such...

Can you get a puppy pre-trained? by
wm.king4@gmail.com
I would like to get a puppy for my elderly parents. They and their
housekeeper would look after it well but would not be able to train it
from scratch. By training, I just mean learning to go outside for
necessities, basic manners, knowing his name and coming when called.
That's all any of our dogs...

New dog tool by
Sharon Delarose[_2_]
Sierra got a present on my birthday. She now has a circular pen in the
bedroom and last night she graduated from the crate to the bedroom.
She made it thru most of the night sleeping. I woke at 5:30 and decided
to "empty the dog" since she'd now have two flights of stairs down to
the potty...

Word problem for dog folks by
amesnatlzoo
Here's a "multidog" question for you. You're asked to let out a couple's
three dogs for a brief potty break mid-afternoon. No one else will be home.
You're told A needs to be on a tieout, but as long as B is out with her,
he'll stay around. C is a puppy, and crated, but shouldn't be allowed...

Easing your minds by

For those of you who are concerned about my crossing a line with the
book, I'm going to post some of the content here so that hopefully, your
minds will be eased:

Dakota wasn't a dainty dog ‹ she was a dog's dog and she was constantly
flirting with death. Once again she put the fear of...

Animal book by
Matt[_3_]
I bought a book today which probably has an overly-specific
target audience, but I'm liking it anyway.
_Some We Love, Some We Hate, Some We Eat_. By Hal Herzog. I
know nothing about the author but flipping through it at the
bookstore, it's $26 well spent.
I'm starting on it tonight.

How many commands is too many? by
Sharon Delarose[_2_]
I totally disagree that we teach our dogs too many
commands/words/phrases.
To clarify, when I said Gypsy Rose knew 80 different commands, that did
also include words/phrases/names of objects such as ball, toy, and go
for a ride.
That said, I believe absolutely that the more...

A single "oof" by
Sharon Delarose[_2_]
Today is a big day for Sierra. Her first vet visit. I'm sure it will
be an adventure traveling with her without my husband to assist. Her
crate is too big for my car so we're improvising.
In preparation I took them out front on leashes to poop so I could
collect the sample. She is now...
