online individual dog diets? by Natalie Rigertas
I can't remember who has used this one place (Marshall Dermer, maybe?). If anyone remembers, can they let me know? It's some holistic vet who creates diets for pets and gives the recipe for a hundred bucks, something like that? thanks natalie --

Dalmation? by Q
I am considering fostering an older Dalmation. We live in an apartment. I looked them up on http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/abc.htm and they seem to be an active breed. Then again, almost all the descriptions say "daily brisk walk." Should I do it? It might be better than risking being "put down." ~Q

Australian Cattle Dogs in USA by David Hare-Scott
A while ago a poster remarked offhandedly that ACDs were quite popular in the USA. Is this true? If so why? Are they used as working dogs or pet/show dogs? My reason for asking is that we have an Australian Kelpie (which are bred for the same purpose and have a similar temperament) and until...

Yorkie vs. silkie please by Jeepers' Mom
I need to know the difference in a yorkie and a silkie terrier. We have rescued one and are not sure which it is. He is dark (almost black) down to his little feet which are a caramel color, and he has some of the lighter brown on his face also. Thanks for any help.

Pattern inheritence question by Natalie Rigertas
A friend of mine saw some puppies in a petfinder ad. The ad is down now (they were quickly adopted). Anyway, it's obvious one of the parents was a lab. Most of the dogs were yellow. One or two were...they had coloration kind of like a GSD mix, and their ears were floppy and more lab shaped...

FS: Weimaraner Male, 20 months, needs home I am searching for a home for a 20 month old male Weimaraner with AKC papers. He fell into my hands somewhat by chance, and I can't keep him, at least not without neutering him. Please take a look at him: http://www.weimaraner.inkjot.com/ If you can...

It's raining Weimaraner puppies in the heartland by Ruth
Apparently the stars have aligned in a new and bizarre formation. Rarely do we get puppies in rescue, but man do we have a bunch at the moment. Heartland Weim Rescue has 29 puppies that will be or are available for adoption. There is a litter of newborns, a litter soon to be delivered, and many...

AKC DNA SCAM by besmearrocks
Why would the AKC make you DNA the sire and not a dam?? Without the dam being DNA'ed you could use a non AKC dog and still register puppies. Just say they are the AKC's Dam's litter. I know that this is done out there. It is so easy to paper a non AKC dam AKC. Its all in who you know so, how can...

consuming prey: a breed specific trait? by culprit
i'm having a discussion with some coworkers about why some dogs consume their prey and others don't. my opinion is that breeds that were bred to hunt but not consume, don't often eat their prey, but are more likely to play with it. OTOH, primitive and northern breeds seem more likely to eat their...
