Not a Berner cross by
Rocky
My latest weekend guest signed in as a Berner cross. She's a
big girl, but I don't see Berner:

She roughly measures in at 26", is 2.5 years old, is playful
outside, and very relaxed inside. I see...

Name prefix question by
Amanda Tikkanen
Lucy won multiple High in Trial awards (and, I think, one reserve, but
I'd have to check on that) when I was in 4-H with her. Our 4-H group
called it "Overall Grand Champion," but it was HIT. Should I include
that in her name when I write it out in full? ie: HIT Lucy Anna Skye,
MB-CD,...

Nicolae Santean
Hello everybody,
I have recently been thinking to get a Dachshund for my family; however I
have difficulties deciding which variety I should choose. I then thought I
should seek some help in this newsgroup.
- What are the differences between standard and miniature Dachshunds, except
the size ?

New Lhasa Apso book by
Miss 81
A Doggy Diary is a quirky tale of BrandLee, the Lhasa Apso puppy. Her
father invented a special device called a Doggy-Speak, which plugs
into a computer and allows BrandLee to use her owner's computer. In
this way BrandLee writes her diary. She records her new life away from
her siblings and...

Border Terrier or Parson Russell Terrier... earthdog? by
Urban Sherpa
First, let me say that I currently own a 14yr old Shiba Inu that was
VERY rambunctious as a younger dog (so I am used to a high energy
breed), and I am a VERY outdoorsy person who does many long hikes, as
well as mountaineering, canoeing, hunting, etc. (so the dog will be
excercised A LOT).
Also, ...

Japanese Spitz by
Puppy Love
Hello.
I have been falling love with this beautiful dog called Japanese Spitz. I'd
like to get the puppy of this breed someday, but so far, I haven't found
many breeders in the US... I wonder if anybody know the good breeders of
Japanese Spitz. I live in Florida and prefer breeders near my home,...

Miniature Schnauzer pee problems after bladder surgery by
marko959
I have a 5 year old black Miniature Schnauzer. She had surgery for
bladder stones in early January of this year. Before the surgery, she
would have accidents in the house once in a great while. After the
surgery, she is having problems. She has urininated several times on
our carpet and floor....

Should we get a Schnauzer? by
Irene
I would like to get a dog soon, but our youngest son is only 19 mo, so
I guess it is better to wait a year or two. On the other hand a dog
companion would be nice to have around when my husband is away.
Therefore we don't want a small dog.
We live on the countryside, no neighbours and no roads...

Yet another "What the heck is THIS dog?" post by
Sionnach
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/amberdogs1/album?.dir=/7d36
Medium- sized; height is approximately 21", weight... not sure, but no
more than 45 lbs. Much more fine-boned than she appears in the pictures
(look at the sitting shot in the truck). Double coated.
Seems to have a fairly high prey drive...

AKC Registration Rule Interpretation? by
lute--@aol.com
Under what circumstances can a litter be registered without the
signature of the stud dog owner?
Case in point: Co-owners dispute rights to the litter. Go to court.
Eventually settle out of court. Both sign off on litter.
Meanwhile, one of the co-owners gets into a fight with the stud...

What breed dog is recommended. by
Reed
We are in our mid 50's with a 50'X 150' chain linked fenced back yard.
We take walks around the neighborhood about every day that is nice.
Looking for a dog 15-25 lbs that doesn't shed much. Short hair
preferable. Would like a fairly calm dog and hopefully one that won't
dig under the fence since...

Maltese with potty problems by

I have a 10 month old maltese who I have had some problems house
training her. I moved a couple times within the first 2 months I owned
her but for the last 6 months we have been at the same place. I have
always tried to get her to use pee pads since I live in an apartment in
a city. She is usually...

Fancy, 1991 - 2005 by
AndreaS
Farewell sweet girl. You'll be missed.
Just a reminder to everyone, _any_ dog can get bloat. Fancy was not a huge
eater, did not gulp her food and did not, at 14 years of age, do a lot of
running around before or after eating. Or at all. Though I suppose Ibizan
Hounds might be considered deep...

SPCA killing dogs? by
Dunkel Kennels
Is this really possible that SPCA put down 56 dogs from a breeder's yard
without even trying to save the dogs' lives? How stupid can SPCA be?
People here in Europe are truly shocked over news like this. More
detailed info at http://www.helpfloyd.org
