Best way to ship cats? by
Oliver Costich
We are moving from San Diego to Fort Lauderdale and have 5 cats to
move with us. I hate to subject them to a long car ride where they
will be in carriers all day for several days. Here are the options I
have considered:
Drive them doing 8-9 hours of driving and stopping overnight at
hotels. This...

My four year old cocker has just vomited some black gritty stuff. It is like
black wet sand. It doesn't smell and the dog seems fine. Does anyone know
about this? Larry

My 11 yo herder mix has hemorrhages in both eyes- the Vet had not seen

two puppy questions by

I have two questions about my rott puppy:
1) I live in Hawaii and I have a banana tree growing in my backyard. My
puppy loves chewing on the bark of the tree. My neighbor says he thinks
banana trees are bad for dogs. Anybody know?
2) Right now I feed him Eubakanuba puppy food (not sure about...

Buffalo Blue Dog food by
Humanhere2
Hi all,
The store I work at is going to start to carry a dog food called Buffalo Blue.
It looks like a decent food, but honestly do not know enough about it.
Ingredients look decent, but we all know ingredients aren't everything. I
would like to know more about this food -- a website, personal...

Whats a dogs normal respiration rate? [Reposted] by
Rocky
Marshall said in rec.pets.dogs.health:
Still hoping someone might have an answer...
It's extremely variable from dog to dog. When I took a pet
first aid course, it was suggested to make a note of such things
(respiration and heart rates, pupil dilation, etc.) when your
dog is healthy.
So,...

Dog Navel by
rhamilt4@rochester.rr.com
Hi,
I was grooming my dog (collie) recently and noticed a slit on his
chest / stomach about .75 - 1" in length. It looks like a fold in his
skin. It's located just below his ribcage and dead center. At first I
assumed it must be his navel (though I can't recall seeing it before
and he's 9 yrs. old)...

Dachshund back problems by
AlabamaCharles
Our 5 year old dachshund had surgery last year on one of his disks. He
seemed to recover from that fairly well, but he keeps having episodes of
pain. A milogram showed that he doesn't really need surgery again. These
episodes have happened five times since his surgery in June 2002 and have
been...

Advice for older Golden Retriever? by
80k
Hi,
I have a 9-year-old Golden Retriever. He has a beautiful, shiny coat,
no sign of white hair (which I see all the time in Goldens that are
younger than him). He is already having hip problems though, and has
problems getting up or going down stairs. I have given him Cosequin
for about a year...

Lumps-Opinions by
alie
Hi...
I have a 11 year old female German Shepherd. I took her to have her
yearly check-up in mid-May. No lumps were found then. Then my husband
noticed a couple of bumps and took her in to have them checked out.
Then during that visit the vet assistant found a 3rd lump. One is under
her front...

anal glands by
JM
I have been debating this for quite a while. My dog needs to be
expressed 1-4 times a month. He has plenty of fiber, but it's not
doing the job. He would chew on his rear until that smelly stuff gets
all over him.I have read in this newsgroup about people who
had injections to stop the glands from...

Opinions on Dog Food by
Markeg
I need a good reccomendation on premium dog food. My 2 yr old Sheltie just
got tired of Canidae. He's been eating it for about a year. He usually
gets bored with food in 8-12 months.
I am trying California Natural but it might be too rich for him. His stools
are a little loose.
Any...
