After a period of pronounced lack of energy, our Border Collie/Bernese Mtn. Dog was diagnosed with a thyroid problem. The solution from our vet were pills called "Synthroid .8", twice a day. Has anyone else had this problem? Also, does anyone know of a good place to get this prescription more...

Last night my Lhasa Apso was scratched in the eye by our cat, we have an appointment to take him to the vet this afternoon. "Stinking Dog!" by kcchin
I have a very lovable active, highly intelligent Jack Russel. It is very healthy and active and seemingly a very nice coat of fur. It has a free range of a few hundred square feet of garden to run around, and free access into the house and her favourate sleeping beanbag. She is as nice as I would...

I'm ready to start cooking for my dog by 80k
Hi, my dog has had chronic ear problems and his arthritis is getting worse and worse... i'm really worried about the quality of his last few years (he's a 9 year old Golden). I think i'm going to give him home-cooked meals, rather than the Nutro dog kibble i have been giving him. I have heard to...

Water in the ear? by Finz Up
Sometimes it appears that my yellow lab gets water in his ears while swimming, esp after diving off the boat. It seems to bother him and he scoots across the rug trying to rub his ear. Are there any drops that can be used to dry this up. Do you think you can use human formula drops for swimmers...

Dogs & food scraps? by Mark/Shell
What's the general feeling on feeding dogs table scraps? We all know dogs love "human food" My dogs get their normal dog food but depending on what we are having for a meal I reduce the amount of their food. I don't feed them junk / fast food but if we are having a roast dinner or casserole they...

Hello, I switched my two dogs about 3 months ago to Iams Active Maturity dry dog food. This summer I have really noticed that their urine smells extremely bad. We have a very small city back yard and I can smell it when I'm out there. I have never noticed this before when they were on their old...

Dangers lurking in the grass by diddy
My 13 year old dog is recovering from pyopneumothorax resulting from a grass seed that started when it embedded in his coat, penetrated his skin, threaded through his muscles, and partially collapsed his lung. He has a heavy coat, and the only reason we knew something was wrong, was because he did...
