Luxating Patella... by

Kiba's knee is giving him enough trouble that I am taking him to the vet
tomorrow to discuss the possibility of surgery. I was hoping to avoid it
altogether, but it's affecting his life to an extent I'm not willing to
impose on him.
Due to my health, and my husband's weird working hours, an...

Trace amount of blood my Chihuahua's stool by
darren
Hello all,
My 10 year old Chihuahua recently had some teeth pulled, and the vet
discovered that there was some trace amount of blood in his stool
sample. The vet said it could have come from one of the dogs loose
teeth, and that we should re-check it in a couple of weeks,
We just had another sample...

Is it a common thing for vets to not mention that an animal is anemic when
results indicate it is? Or have we just been really unlucky in our choice
of vets?

Protein determines coat color by
diddy[_2_]
I was always aware that I was allergic to RED dogs. Any other color dog has
never bothered me. And worse yet, if a red dog licks me, I break out in
hives.
I never understood this.
But I was reading in Science Daily
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/10/071030133907.htm
about coat color...

How many times a day do I feed? by
SteveB[_2_]
I have a Corgi and Lab/Rott mix. They are happier if I feed them lightly in
the morning, then the bigger main feed in the evening. My wife says I
should feed them once a day. But, in the mornings, it's hard not to when
they come in and put their heads in your lap, or just start with that...

Amish Country Pork Ribs and Sauerkraut by
Paul E. Schoen
A couple weeks ago I visited the Pennsylvania Dutch Market, just before
closing for the week, and the proprietor of Amish Country Meats offered me
a pile of Country Style Pork Ribs for $1/lb. It's not something I would
normally buy, but I could not resist the bargain, and asked what the best...

Question about DAP by
Victek
We're trying out DAP to see if it will help calm our dog. We have the
dispenser that plugs into an AC outlet. My question is does the dispenser
need to be plugged in continuously to be effective, or can it be plugged in
just during the time the dog is alone? The unit didn't come with much...

Carbohydrates by
chardonnay9
Dr. David Kronfeld reports that carbohydrates are most important for
dogs in two situations: puppies just coming off the mothers milk (which
is 12% carbohydrates) and the lactating bitch, who needs three times the
usual turnover of blood glucose for production of milk. He goes on to
state that...

Doggy Teeth Cleaning with and without anesthesia by
Victek
Our dog needs his teeth cleaned and we're considering trying the technique
that does not require anesthesia. This method is quite a bit less expensive
and we think it would be easier on our dog too, but we wonder about
effectiveness. It's understandable that the job can be done more thoroughly...
