The other problem with our Scottie is salmon disease. We have a salmon spawning stream that runs through the middle of our yard in the Puget Sound area. Local salmon are often infected with a fluke that carries a bacteria that is deadly to dogs (but not cats or humans or anything else). We...

Cuts on feet by C J Campbell
We live on a large lot with a stream and a beach covered with oysters. There are plenty of dangers for dogs, particularly this time of year as salmon disease is endemic to the area, but in particular our Scottie, Badger, seems to frequently cut her feet on the sharp oysters. (We watch and keep...

my dog hurts when she gets up? by jessica
For about a week now, after my dog has been lying down, she tends to yelp and cry when she gets up. Once she's up she doesn't walk with a limp or exhibit any pain. If you touch her legs she shows no pain. She is 5 year old Belgian Malinosis/German Sherphard mix. Any ideas?

older dog growls at owners by blakesq
I have a 13 year old dog, that starts to growl when she is trouble. For instance if she gets into the closed trash can, or pulls food off a shelf, then we will usually tell Greta, "what is this, bad dog." lately she has really started growling a lot, and she lunged at my wife. She didn't bite her...

Ruptured ACL by Suja
This is the first time I've heard of this in a puppy, so I thought I'd ask. Is it possible for a 4 month old Dane puppy to blow out her ACL? How is a definitive diagnosis for this made? X-rays? Manipulation? Combination of the two? Suja
