Rubbing chin by
Debbie the Underdogged
Dolly, my chi mix, the ultimate cuddle-bug, will occasionally vigorously
rubs her chin on me in a circular motion. It's very cute, and I'd like
to know if this has any specific meaning (besides her chin being
possibly itchy)? Thanks.

Have any of you guys had trouble with pet insureance carriers? If so,
would you contact me. I have an attorney who is willing to do a class

Idiot Owner by
FurPaw
Here's another dog likely headed for the pound, or worse.
He's a 7 month old GSD, beautiful boy, who lives next to my BIL. When I
went out in BIL's back yard today, the dog charged the fence and began
barking viciously. I tried some "calming signals" and slowly started to
sidle up to the fence. ...

Oh boy she did it ;( by
badgirl
I just gave both my dogs the bones from hamsteaks we had for dinner.
This is usually not a problem because they like to chew them for
awhile before destroying them and happily swallowing them down.
Tonight however my Shepherd decided she was just going to gulp hers
down whole. It wasn't a big one,...

Training a dog to walk by
Mark/Shell
Sorry, I don't think I gave enough info. Doug is quite well trained. He will
recall, and I am happy to allow him off lead, especially on our land or in
big open spaces like the beach. He is completely trustworthy. I just want to
be able to get him to walk on command when off lead. I like my dogs to...

Madigan Amazes Me Again by
Leah
So my one-dog class didn't show up, and I was there with Madigan. I figured
I'd use the time teaching her a new trick.
I took a box of biscuits off the shelf, got out the clicker (she knows that
means she's going to learn something new), and decided to teach her to knock it
over.
So I tapped on...

Help with impulse to flee by
Dee Dee Russell
Hello. I have a 5 yr gold lab X who is a most amazing dog - she is so loyal
and obedient, she respects our home boundaries whether a door or gate is
open or not. However, recently, I have taken in a stray. It has been a
week, and I have placed ads at the pound and put up posters all over...

Herding training (border collies) by
Katra
Anyone have any advice on the procedure for training a BC to herd small
animals without grabbing/hurting them? The herding thing is obviously
instinctive, but how to you teach them that chasing is ok, but grabbing
their subjects is a no-no?
She needs "work" to do and I'm trying to provide that...

I Got Bitten Today by
Rocky
Tricia9999 said in rec.pets.dogs.behavior:
Dogs bred for working ability and
drive *only* are often bred by people who really don't have
a deep understanding of what good drive is. Many breeders
mistake hyperactivity for drive. So they simply breed "high
as a kite" to "high as a kite"...
