Barking, hyper dog - help?? by
Peter C. Bogert
Folks, I need some help.
Our 6 month old Buddy (yellow lab) is a great dog. But he has a very hard
time settling down. He gets into moods where he does not respond to
commands (sit, down), barks incessantly, and when we make a move toward him,
he runs to get us to chase him. Obviously this is...

Herding training (border collies) by
Katra
Anyone have any advice on the procedure for training a BC to herd small
animals without grabbing/hurting them? The herding thing is obviously
instinctive, but how to you teach them that chasing is ok, but grabbing
their subjects is a no-no?
She needs "work" to do and I'm trying to provide that...

Leah, it's not Petsmarts method of teaching. It comes from Karen Pryor, Ian

From your posts I gather that you think of this way of teaching as "the
petsmart way" and that it is inferior somehow.
No, not inferior. You say...

What's wrong with my mini pinscher?? by
[email protected]
I just adopted a mini pinscher from the humane society a couple days
ago. She's probably the most docile dog I have EVER seen but she's
incredibly sweet. She will follow you around and sleep by your feet
wanting to be petted/scratched. The day I got her the vet had her
spayed. They estimate she's...

I need advice on this one...
I brought my 2 year old doxie, Rusty, with me to a cross country meet with
my sister this morning. While we were there, a woman came up to me with her
Bichon and let her dog go up to our dog to say hi. IF we were at the dog
park or at our house where Rusty wasn't on...

Has anybody ever gone thru this recently that can give me some input? My
yellow lab is suffering from arthritis (I think), poor guy. He is only 6
and has had it since he was 3. We have had him to two different vets with
the same diagnoses. But we have been given nothing positive at all. ...
