Pit Bull Ban in PA Town Proposed by [email protected]
The Mayor of Wilkes-Barre PA is going to propose a ban on the pit bull terrier. The excuse is that the breed is said to be a guard dog for drug houses. This is BS. The pit bull terrier is a formidable dog but like anything else can be made dangerous in unresponsible owners hands. Don't go after...

Cocker spaniel character by Toby OCM
Hi there. I'm hoping that you might be able to give me some advice on cocker spaniels. Our cocker (male blue roan) died recently. Whilst he was a lovely, gentle creature (tolerated being pulled and tugged by small children with never even a growl), he did have a couple of character flaws: he was...

Book of verse on Westies? by [email protected]
This book ("Thumper: The Musings of a West Highland Terrier") is by the sentimental British writer Patience Strong (1907-1990). Her kindest critics, these days, refer to her verse as doggerel, whether they're joking about this particular book or not. (You can find more than 50 different titles...

Why dogs belong indoors by Janet Puistonen
If anyone asks why their dog should never be left tied up outdoors, tell them to read this. This story has disgusted people here. Warning: gross animal cruelty. http://pressherald.mainetoday.com/news/state/050709dogplea.shtml

french bulldog bark sounds like strangled child by [email protected]
We recently rescued an adult male French Bulldog from the street. It doesn't bark, instead it makes a cry rather like a child being strangled. Could it be that his vocal cords have been cut, or is this a typical sound for a Frenchie?

Blue Tick Hound by Joe
