Three Questions by
jabadoodle
Quesions below, but first some background:
So about a month ago I got a dog, Jeebus, from an aquaintance that could no
longer keep him. The previous owner tells me he is a mixed breed (pointer,
lab, and pit) and is 3 years old. Jeebus is a very happy dog, never shows
any agression toward...

feeding chicken bones to dog by
[email protected]
Hi all,
I am new to this group. I am sure this topic has been discussed
thousands of time, yet i would like to open up this topic simply to
alleviate my fears.
Three days ago I fed my 3 months old labrador pup a drumstick and he
happily finished it (He appears to have chewed the bone...

Demodectic mange in older dogs by
Chris ®
My 10yo mixed breed recently developed what appears to be a classic red
mange lesion on her side. Once the dead skin was scraped off, a red
hairless spot remained. Thankfully, it has been limited to this one
spot. My first dog had to deal with the generalized type throughout her
life as a...

So we've had this new dog for a couple of days and she finally felt

weigh very much, she seems pretty big.
We know...

Incurable cut on toe by
Heloise
My greyhound has about a 1/2 inch cut on his outer toe that keeps
reopening when he runs. This has been going on for three years. I let
it heal for two or three weeks then take him back to the dog park and
there we go again. I've had him to the vet several times (have spent
about $500 on it) but...

The Space Boss
I need to call a company to come over and get a couple of carpets and a
hall in my home deep-cleaned because the dogs have peed on it so often
in the last couple of years (even though I REALLY try to put them out
often, they still have accidents.. luckily they are near the same...

TPLO or Sutcher for ACL Repair by
[email protected]
I just got back from the doggy surgeon. Zoe, my 8 year old, 35 pound
beagle mix needs to have surgery to both knees. She appeareds to have
torn her ACL in her right knee and has arthritis in both knees. I
thought the problem was just in the right leg because that is the one
she favors. Since the...

Nose protection for a Jack Russell by
[email protected]
I have a young (1 year) Russell that loves to a push, roll and chase a ball. I'm
talking something the size and weight of a basketball. Any smaller sized ball
can be mouthed and of no challenge to him.
The trouble that a basketball has tiny grip aids that as the ball rolls against
his nose it...

Flea Prevention Alternatives? by
skddlbyp
I've got so many pets that Frontline is no longer affordable. I suspect
it's overpriced, anyway. Drs. Foster & Smith make their own version, but I'm
told nothing but Frontline really works.
Are there any inexpensive over-the-counter, or possibly homemade, flea
and tick preventatives for dogs and...

nose discharge german shepherd by
gordon
Has any one had experience with a diagnosis of "idiopathic nasal discharge"
in their dogs and if so what was any outcome. I have had three vets look and
as yet no one can give a diagnosis let alone a prognosis. Has been going on
six months.

Area under my dog's nose is inflamed by
Cathy K
My dog, Candy, is a yellow lab mix and is in the realm of "geriatric" at her age (12+ years) and for her breed, and up until about three weeks ago, she was active and lively for an "old lady". It was at that time that I noticed that the area under her nose, normally black, had some pink splotches...

How cold is too cold? by
Kdf
Here is my question:
What is your experience with the weather and beagles? How cold is too cold
for a beagle to be comfortable outside for a couple nights at a time? We
have a insulated dog house (with heavy door flaps) that is elevated and
under a covered porch. That dog house also has a...
