My experience with female dog in heat by [email protected]
First female dog I have owned, so the first time i am dealing with the female dog heat cycle. After having a male dog die from bone cancer caused by getting him neutered at an early age, my philosophy has changed on getting dogs "fixed". I am not going to advocate getting your dogs spayed or...

Yowls and Congestive Heart Disease by bad sector
I'm going to describe my dogs last days in case someone should google for this info. A 15 year old Tibetan-Terrier, he started coughing last summer. We put him on meds to decrease water retention in the lungs. Everything was going fairly good but a few weeks ago he suddenly got worse. The vet was...

Concern about 'Performatrin' dog food by Bill Bell
My dog just got over a few weeks of kidney trouble. He was drinking large volumes of water, frequently urinating in large volumes and the specific gravity of his urine was measured to be 1.009. (I understand that normally it would be about 1.035.) Various tests for bacterial agents proved to be...

Raw Vegan dog food by Gary[_6_]
Is this even possible I wonder? I've fed raw meat/fish to several dogs over the years. Every one thrived on it. The difference in attitude was tremendous. Training them becomes so much easier when you reward with meat. "Treats" are absurd. You give the dog food when its hungry. I do...

Iams & Eukanuba, good foods? any opinions? by [email protected]
What is the consensus here about Iams and Eurkanuba? I remember several years ago they were considered the best foods out there. I was looking at Eukanuba Lamb and Rice and it says it uses New Zealand Lamb which is free range, hormone and antibiotic free. That sounds pretty good but I don't know.

Vegetable substitute for grass by Digger
I'm concerned that my pup may be eating grass with chemicals on it. I'm chopping celery into his meal. No idea if this is an appropriate substitute. Thanks

Delphi ADO -tietokanta by Jyrki Osterlund

Gaubster is Steve Crane's sock puppet -- it's now official!!! by [email protected]
For the record, I'm no one's "sock puppet". I don't speak for Hill's or Steve Crane or for anyone other than myself. I find it quite telling that instead of debating points that I make here (or those points made by people that are NOT Hill's Haters), the Hill's Haters, instead, attempt to smear,...

Science Diet, nutrients and quality ingredients? by [email protected]
Why can't Science Diet have both the proper nutrients and quality ingredients? It is so obvious that SD uses cast off filler. There is no reason for any dogfood to contain soy meal, or peanut hulls or cellulose. If they are really interested in pet nutrition then why can't they use the same human...

Dog yelping in pain but can't identify why? by Alex[_2_]
Hi, My pup is 6 months old and has been yelping in pain for about 2 weeks. He has visited the vet twice, had two physical exams and an x ray but the vet has not identified anything physically wrong with the dog. He has been taking a pain reliever and something to reduce swelling. The pup is not...

MYTH: THERE ARE MILLIONS OF DOGS SAFELY EATING 'COMPLETE AND BALANCED'KIBBLES STAMPED WITH AAFCO'S SEAL OF APPROVAL. by chardonnay9
http://www.angelfire.com/falcon/rawdog/kibble.html Millions of dogs eat kibble. And millions of dogs--85% of all dogs--suffer from periodontal disease by age 3 as a result of eating these processed foods (Lonsdale, T. 2001. Raw Meaty Bones.). This translates to teeth covered with plaque and...

Nasal/Digital Hyperkeratosis by Debra Axelson
My four year old Lab developed this condition at about age 1. The Vet suggested it may respond to the addition of Zinc suppliments, which I've been giving since (50mgs daily). This past winter the nose has been far worse, possibly aggrevated by 1. dog sleeping near heater. 2. dog sticking head out...

please help ID tiny external parasite by Cate
My vet doesn't open for another half hour, and in addition to my being grossed out, I'm curious. I just found on my dog at least 3 dozen tiny parasites. I didn't know that's what they were at first. I was scratching him along the inside of his front leg and felt what seemed like a mild rash--with...

Raw food advantages / dangers by Paul E. Schoen
I've been feeding raw beef hearts as well as marrow bones and other raw bones to Muttley for a while. He really enjoys them and I think it is healthy and natural. But a friend says that I should cook them to eliminate the possibility of him getting worms. However, she also gives her dog cooked...

Dogs dogs dogs by [email protected]
I do not care what Melinda or anyone else thinks. Today's economy has hurt everyone. I built my lens to promote sites that offer free advice, plans, training techniques, pics etc. to all the dog lovers out there. And yes, I am a dog lover, and to the person that thinks my dog's Lance and Sampson...
