We bought him from a trainer at the age of two and we have continued feeding him Precise Foundation (chicken based) kibble. We feed him about a cup twice a day with one-third cup of green beans. These kibbles are very...

My vet is on a witch hunt for the cause... I'm hoping to find someone with a similar situation that might clue us all in and help her diagnose. I have a 3 year old GSD that progressed like this: Tuesday night - played normal, bouncing all around, leaps and jumps, little bit later, didn't finish...

Behavior and dog foods by [email protected]
We've all heard the phrase "You are what you eat". How does this apply to the various commercial dog foods? Do the high end dog foods like Science Diet and Pro Plan have any substantial effect on canine behavior, either negative or positive, over regular dog foods like Pedigree and Alpo? Is it...

Discontinuation of Prednisone before ACTH test? by [email protected]
My 6 year old Lab mix has shown symptoms consistent with Addison's, and has been on prednisone 10mg morn, 10mg eve. His current vet suggests an ACTH test and is recommending a discontinuation of the Prednisone for 24 hours. My understanding is that precipitous discontinuation of hormone...

Dog's nails are turning black... by [email protected]
I don't cut my dog's nails any more. I clipped one too short before and it turned black. I use the electric nail file for dog's and it's easier for both of us. Don't spend too much time on each nail because the friction burns. It also dulls the edges, so they don't scratch people.

bleeding ear by [email protected]
I have an 11 month old boxer who likes to play rough with other dogs at the dog park. Doing so, he has torn little chunks out of the bottom of his right ear. I can not seem to get his ear to heal, he is constantly tearing off the scabs while playing and it just seems to pretty much stay an open...
