Four weeks by
Kevin Michael Vail
It was four weeks ago today that we put Toby down. We're all adjusting
to this, slowly, and starting to talk about the good times we remember.
A neighbor was admiring Fidget's mellowness in the elevator over the
weekend, and then asked me "Did you ever see that little white dog that
used to snarl...

jack russel - nighttime by
Jonathan
Don't rush it. Let her sleep on the foot of your bed.
I really am not qualified to comment- but the advise I had on my
particularly boisterous Jack Russel was "never let him in the bedroom, never
let him on the sofa". (Mind you, the trainers did take one look at him,
laugh, have a cuddle,...

Dumb or not? by
Suja
Met a friend's new GSD foster yesterday. Gorgeous dog, will be amazing
looking once his hip bones stop poking out so much. Now, this guy
fixated on one little girl dog, and kept humping her. Repeatedly.
Being told 'Off', while being unceremoniously yanked off the dog didn't
work. Being squirted...

Escalation of behavior prior to extinction of behavior. by
Nessa
Let's hear what folks have to say about a dog who's BAD behavior escalates
after the corrections for it have started. How long does it last in your
experience?
For those that care, the BIGGEST problem with Bagel right now is his
REFUSAL to give something up. I worked on drop it a bit with him...

not a joke: how to play fetch by
Cate
I have a serious question. How on Urth do I get Orson to bring his fetching
toys back to me?
Until we moved here, I was happy to throw things in the water for him to
retrieve, and I didn't care if he didn't bring it back to me because I was
usually walking and talking with friends and their dogs,...
