What am I in for with my dog's stomach cancer

Hi everyone

I am really needing help to know what to expect with stomach cancer in
my dog. One week ago he was diagnosed after a mass was found in his
abdomen. I have been battling with what to get him to eat and
everyday is a chore as he is barely eating and a fraction of himself.
He greets me still and trots to and from the gate to greet neighbours
or us when we come home but he voices his opinion on matters but what
is in for me?
Are there any prefered food items? What is the average time left on
a dwindling sometimes non-existent appetite?
Can anyone walk me through what to expect and see as this horror
progresses?

My dog stopped eating and that day I put her down. I couldn't let her go
through anymore pain.Auto immune disease got her. It was one of if not the
hardest thing any normal person can do but it was for the best for both of
us. Be brave he will let you know.
Good luck best wishes.

What am I in for with my dog's stomach cancer

I'm sorry to hear that your dog is so poorly. Last week I lost my seven year
old bullmastiff to pancreatic cancer - a similarly devastating disease.
Daisy gradually stopped eating over a period of three or four weeks - I
tried every food imagineable and would give her anything she wanted to eat -
although for the following meal she would have "gone off" the earlier one
and would want something different. My vet hadn't told me that we were
dealing with such a devastating disease and she only prescribed anti-nausea
tablets, nothing else.
An oncologist friend suggested trying raw carrots and Daisy loved eating
those - not really enough to keep her strength up though! Also, low fat
cottage cheese or yogurt in a ratio of 1:3 with cooked white rice.
Three days before she left us I discovered that Daisy would eat anything
with tomato in it - bolognaise sauce, pizza topping, raw tomoatoes, pasta
sauce - made it easier to give her chicken etc. as I simply covered it in
tomato sauce! Afterwards I read that tomato is powerfully anti-carcinogenic
- maybe she knew it could help her.
High protein/low carb food is preferable i.e. chicken breast, liver, ostrich
meat, lean beef, turkey) even high protein dog treats are good - dried
jerky, tasty dog biscuits etc. - meat is easier digested raw by the dog's
stomach
Daisy loved eating 3 or 4 ounces of raw liver each day.

If I had the time with her again, I would also give her the following - all
known to be powerfully anti-carcinogenic :
Curcumin/Turmeric (the curry ingredient) 500mg x 3 per day (with bromelain),
Turkey Tail mushroom extract, Artemisinin (at night time - read up about it
on Google) (Daisy had high temperature/fever at night and also laboured
breathing - this should have helped as cancer is at it's most agressive
during the early hours of the morning).
From diagnosis to us letting Daisy go was just a month - she lost muscle
mass and became increasingly lethargic.
Very important to keep your guy drinking water - dogs can survive a
significant length of time with little food but not so without water to keep
them hydrated.

All the best to you and your friend - please email me privately if you think
I can be of any help.

Dave
