Default Faith's birthday party

We don't actually know Faith's birthday, but that doesn't stop Anna from
throwing her a birthday party every year. This year's was an especially
big bash. Eleven kids and 6 dogs, including a year old lab and a 3 month
old GR who were lucky to have each other because Faith didn't want either
one of them. She didn't mind them in principle, but the fact that they
always wanted to play got a royal telling off from her little highness.
All of the kids brought gifts. Anna had games and prizes for the dogs
(find the bologna hidden in the bushes among others) and for the owners.
A great time was had by all and even Sammie was ready to pass out
afterward. I thought he never ran out of energy! Each partygoer also
got enough pizza (Faith's favorite food) and ice cream cake to be able to
share with their dogs as well as eat some themselves. I think the ice
cream cake plate licking was the dogs' favorite party activity.

The low point was the friend whose mom wouldn't let her come because she
thought it was ridiculous to throw a birthday party for a dog. That
seemed pretty weird to me. Even if the party my daughter was invited to
sounded completely ridiculous to me, if there wasn't anything illegal,
immoral, dangerous or otherwise worrisome going on, I'd let her go. As
it turned out, several of the kids' siblings stayed for the party because
they didn't want to go home when their parents headed back home after
dropping the invited kid off at the park. Kids have good sense. They
thought it would be even more fun to participate in a party for dogs than
just for people and wanted to stick around.

What's wrong with ridiculous? Ridiculous and kids seem to go
together, to me. Besides, if the kids think it sounds like fun,
then what's the harm in letting them participate? Talk about
meanypants parents!

They thought it would be even more fun to participate in a party

Ha!

So, did Faith get good loot?

Yeah, it just doesn't make sense to me. Kids do all kinds of things I
wouldn't spend my time on, but if there's no harm to it, why not?

Yes, she did, actually. Anna was surprised because she didn't ask for
anyone to bring any presents. But they did anyway. She got two nice
food/water bowls, chewies, some liver treats, a matching purse and hat, a
picture of Faith in a hand decorated frame from the six year old girl
across the street, and some other stuff I can't remember. I think her
favorite was getting all the pizza she could eat, though. My dad was
coming out to take us out to dinner for Mimi's birthday (next week) and
when he heard that it was Faith's birthday party, he said that he guessed
he'd better bring pizza with him since it is her favorite food. Now
there's a good grandpa! He even remembers their dogs' favorite foods. I
don't think he'll ever forget Faith loves pizza because the only time she
ever left Anna's side to pay attention to him was when he had pizza and
was passing out bits of it to the dogs. She has also learned to check
Grandpa for white styrofoam boxes when he comes in the house because he
has any leftovers from taking us out to eat boxed up for the dogs. I'm
sure it annoys Faith that she has to share with the other dogs, but she's
happy to get people food treats whenever Grandpa shows up. It's funny to
see her come to the table and jump up on his lap and give him googly eyes
at the same time she is daring us to try to enforce the no dogs at the
table begging rules when sucker Grandpa is there. She knows he'll feed
her and I will let him. Can't teach an old man new tricks, you know!

That is so cool! I can't believe some parents wouldn't let their
children participate. A party is a party, and I think that was a
fantastic idea for a party! Your daughter is quite a girl. I'll bet my
daughter would adore her, and especially Faith.

Rev, that's a Jerry Howe post. Howe beats dogs and uses choke chains
and organizes dog fights in Louisiana. He's the worst man to ever call
himself a dog trainer -- no one else ever would. If one of his dogs
won't fight, he shoots it and drapes it on Terri's fence. Evil doesn't
really describe him: how about stupid ****tard? Yeah, stupid ****tard.

A good grandpa, indeed! He knows how to please his grandaughters
*and* their dogs.

Sucker Grandpa sounds like my mom. For someone who is *not* a dog
person, she spoils Harriet rotten in her own non-dog-person way.

She knows he'll feed her and I will let him. Can't teach an old
man new tricks, you know!

My mom pulls that stuff sometimes. I've mentioned sauerkraut, I
believe. The last time I was home, everyone went about ignoring me
and feeding Harriet whatever they wanted. She had the first leaky
episode in a long, long time. I don't know if the leakiness was
connected to the food or the stress of being in a house chockfull
of noisy people. My family is kinda boisterous, and I'm really
quiet, so Harriet's not used to that sort of sustained noise level.
It was good stress, but stress nonetheless. Anyway, I pitched a
fit and threatened bodily harm to the next person to feed Harriet
*any*thing. It worked.

Not that I'm suggesting you have the need or the desire to act
similarly toward Sucker Grandpa, mind you! I'm just kind of
shocked that my family was actually trainable. All it took was a
properly timed correction of a sufficient intensity.
