People say that, but when confronted with it can generally come up with
very few actual, eyewitness accounts of injury due to dewclaws. And many,
many more dogs have dew claws than not--outside the show world they just
aren't taken off.

agreed. both of my dogs have front dew claws, they both use their front
feet for play (pit bulls play style is very similar to boxers), and they're
both fine. they've never had their dew claws stuck in anything or injured
in any way.

neither one has any evidence of ever having a rear dew claw, though.

You know, when I see Bodhi cornering, I figure there's got to be
someway that he uses his (front dew-claws, he doesn't have rear ones
& didn't at birth). They do come up sometimes with dirt & bits of
grass on them, so he must use them somehow.

We allow people to mutilate themselves with cosmetic surgery. Dogs however
do not have a choice. People should not be able to choose for them just to
satisfy their own vanity.

If a dog's tail gets injured then have it docked for veterinary reasons
otherwise leave it alone. Common sense!

I agree. Leave the tail and ears alone. Natural is better.
