Default Any safe brands out there?

Until recently, I always fed my little dog
Innova, which claims to be "all natural"
and holistic.

Just now I discovered that a substitute
I've been using for the last few months,
"Nutro Natural Choice", is among those
listed as recalled (only the canned and
pouch "wet food")

So has anyone compiled a list
of the good stuff?

I'm throwing out the Nutro; never
mind that he's been eating it for
a couple of months from time to
time. And never mind that it's
dry food.

I'm going back to feeding him
exclusively human food. He
loves fish, especially sushi.

So are there any other brands
of pet food besides Innova
that are apparently safe?

Here is their website:

http://www.naturapet.com/brands/innova.asp

Folks, Blue Buffalo dog and cat foods are wheat, corn and soy free, not made
by menu foods, made from USDA human grade ingredients and are tested prior
to manufacture, during manufacture and after manufacture.
All ingredients are From American sources, not imported.
The food is holistic and has never been recalled, and never will be due to
the careful watchful eyes of onsite Vets. Bluebuff.com

I just fed a bag and liked it, but the last clause of the
last sentence is a load of crap. It could happen to any
feed. Do you really think that the folks at Diamond could
have spotted the tainted corn by looking at it?

Wasn't the tainted wheat gluten human grade? It's not like human
grade foods are automagically exempt from problems. And, not all
the recalled foods were made by Menu, so really, that's kind of
meaningless, too.

Well, that's just it. It is the frustrating thing about talking about this.
It's all "We know you're a dog lover and it seems serious to you." It was
labeled "food grade," not "feed grade," and it is only a matter of chance
that it did not end up in the human food supply (if it didn't --- who knows
how toxic this stuff is to humans or how any toxicity might be manifest).

It's not like human grade foods are automagically exempt from problems.

......Hmmmmmm, don't you remember old Stevo saying it would NEVER happen at
Hills because they inspect and test every load of raw materials coming into
the plant?

Del Monte has said they used human grade. Don't know about the rest.

Unless there are two separate sources of tainted wheat gluten out
there, which sort of beggars belief, it's the same stuff. Anyway, a
human grade designation does not guarantee a lack of contamination.
