Default Boycott Walmart!!!!

Walmart in it's unending attempt to take over all forms of retail
have announced* their intention to get into the "animal supply"
business, but not only that but the've also said that some outlets
will also be carrying pets of all types, from hamsters and parakeets
to cats and dogs.
Seems that their idea is to take over from outlets like PetSmart and
PetCo, most of whom, to the best of my knowledge, only try to find
homes for those pets who were given up to the local ASPCA or Humane
Society shelters.

Again to those who truly love animals, please avoid Walmart and tell
other pet lovers to take their business elsewhere.

So I looked it up, and he didn't say that. Petsmart sells
birds and small rodents, and maybe that's what Walmart is
going to be selling, as well, but Cramer said nothing about
dogs, cats, etc.

There are plenty of reasons not to shop at Walmart (starting
with how all the ones I've been in smell), but that doesn't
seem to be one of them.

Not happening. Was this what you heard?:
"Move over Petsmart, here comes Wal-Mart. The giant retailer announced in a
conference call that it is expanding into pet supplies, and Cramer
commented, "When Wal-Mart decides to compete in a category, the competitor
gets smoked." He noted Whole Foods reeled when Wal-Mart started stocking
organic foods, Circuit City and Best Buy declined when Wal-Mart expanded its
electronics offerings and now pharma is suffering as Wal-Mart enters Phase
III of its prescription drug plan. Even though Pet Smart has 1,100 stores
and 13% market share, Cramer thinks it can't compete with Wal-Mart and would
sell the stock."

Get a grip!

Some individual Walmarts have been selling fish and small animals for
years.

Amen.

The PetCo near me sells fish, rodents, lizards, rabbits, ferrets, and
birds. Petsmart has a similar set-up.

Petsmart here is the same; they're my second-to-last choice of
places to buy pet supplies (i.e.: only when I'm desparate) and
that hasn't happened for at least 3 years. They *do* provide
adoption space though, in all of their outlets, as opposed to
Petland (spit) who provides it in only one location just so they
can advertise they do adoption.

I've two favourite mom'n'pop stores, and I just now found out
that the one I haven't been to for a while now carries the food
I buy.

My reasons go far beyond the surface since I had the misfortune of
working for said retail outlet and found out that *all* of what has
been said is true in the negative regarding Walmart and it's
'Warehouse' outlets Sam's Club.
If you need reasons from many individuals, look up a documentary
titled:
"Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price"
The films web page is:
www.walmartmovie.com/
And no, it's not a Michael Moore film.

Right, they suck. But what you posted about them selling
pets appears to be incorrect.

You should boycott anyone that works with puppy mills. I used to be a
veternary tech in ny and the vet I worked for had a deal with one of the pet
stores to nurse their sick puppy mill puppies. So a customer would buy a
puppy then it would get sick and you would send it to this vet. Virtually
every puppy that came in from there would die.
Also Walmart does sell aquatic animals (at least they did in dallas tx
where I used to live) I have never seen any other animals. They don't take
very good care of their fish and that's because they typically don't know
how to. You can often see whole tanks of dead fish (expensive fish) floating
dead around a tank and clogging the tank filters.
what needs to happen is that they need to be reported and then in the news
with a scandal and then maybe they will hire or train people to keep these
animals properly. THEN AGAIN, YA RIGHT.
