I have a 2 yo spayed GSD, Sammi. She began limping about 1 mo. ago, and
my vet thought that it was Elbow Dysplasia when he manipulated the left
elbow, but scheduled x-rays to confirm. Unfortunately, that was
confirmed this morning. She has dysplasia in both elbows, and
osteo-arthritis beginning in the left. We are currently coordinating a
visit to a board certified orthopedic specialist, but I'm wondering if
anyone here has dealt with this, and what course of action you chose to
take. It is important to me to alleviate her pain. TIA.

I would recommend looking for a good holistic vet/chiropracter. They
can advise you on any misalignments, plus recommend herbal
supplements, orientantal, etc, and perhaps accupuncture and/or massage
for the pain. Also, consider keeping the dog from going down stairs
as it is hard on the front legs. A ramp can help there too.
