Salmon poisoning comes from fluke parasites and can only result from feeding your dog raw salmon from the USA Pacific Northwest. Even then, the fluke parasite must itself be infected. -- --Matt. ..........fish body oil (salmon oil) with Vit E, also glucosamine. Our clients have had good results using a product called Welactin. http://www.nutramaxlabs.com/products...ogBrochure.pdf We gave it to our oldster in the last year of her life and along with the benefits of the supplements, it also made her yucky, but necessary, food tastier. Checking today with our tech in charge of odering our products, she said that we sell a steady amount of Welactin. We don't push it, but we at least have first hand experience. And, no, we don't sell many products other than our services and prescription food. |

Glucosamine works well, but remember it can take 3 to 6 weeks to be
effective. The Space Boss wrote: I have a cocker spaniel who's on Rimadyl for arthritis, and he seems to be doing very well but his bones sure SNAP when he walks. Is there anything I can give him to lubricate his joints so they won't do that???? |

Natural remedies for arthritis ??
hey there, i have had this problem with my older horses (clicking) and
myself (i have had arthritis since i was 17yr-am nearly 20yr) and the best remedy i have found is omega 3-fish oil and glucosimine-also you can talk to your vet about these products (im a vet in training) i think that glucosimine is expensive but does the job, and if you wre to try the fish oil it would take a couple of weeks before you noticed any change. although in saying this i have sometimes had that the glucosimine hasent had much effect on some animals The Space Boss wrote: I have a cocker spaniel who's on Rimadyl for arthritis, and he seems to be doing very well but his bones sure SNAP when he walks. If you have new news, please post it. I only have anecdotal evidence, from my own experience. I took glucosamine for joint problems on the advice of my internist. After several months taking it, I became diabetic. My blood sugar levels were so high while I was taking the glucosamine that I was having frequent heart palpitations. My doctor had me try dietary changes, but it did not help. Just as he was about to start me on insulin, he found research linking glucosamine to diabetes and told me to stop taking it. Within days, my blood sugar levels normalized. For me, that meant they became very low again as I have had hypoglycemia since I was a teenager. This all happened about 3 or 4 years ago and I haven't really looked into it since then. I would be very wary about giving it to my pet not knowing if s/he was insulin resistent. In any case, an animal taking this should have their blood sugar levels monitored IMO. -- Lynne |
