Default Boxers N Kids

Amie's birthday is next Sunday but we decided to have her kids party this
past
weekend since so many people go out of town on the 4th. I was stupid enough
to invite 7 little girls, all age 7-8 for a pizza party, cake & ice cream,
then to the movies to see Rugrats Go Wild, then home for a slumber party.

This was on Saturday. The girls decided they were going to stay up to watch
the sun rise. Well at 4am I finally gave out and had to go to bed...after
about 30 trips upstairs telling them to quiet down. The little buggers came
downstairs at 5:20am, woke Scott up and asked him when breakfast would be
ready! Then he got up at 6am, made a ton of pancakes, bacon & sausage for
them and wouldn't you know that while he was cooking, every one of them
passed out and COULD NOT be woken up. Two of them were sitting straight
up sleeping LOL. All but 2 of them had to be carried out by their moms
because
they wouldn't wake up. Amie had an absolute blast and this will definitely
go down
as one of the best, if not THE best, birthday parties for her

Now for the Boxer part...Ely was in puppy heaven with the girls this
weekend.
I'd swear that he thought they all came just to play with him. I kept
having to physically remove him from the playroom because he just couldn't
stay away. All those little kids with all their smelly sleeping bags and
toys was just temptation overload for my little boy. He kept sneaking up
the stairs and could be seen wiggling so hard he'd lose his balance, going
from one little girl to the next, crawling into sleeping bags, giving kisses
like there's no tomorrow, and just generally basking in the glory of
children. I know Boxers are great with kids but he's the first one I've
seen who acts like every child he sees is his long lost brother or sister.

Hunter loved Amie to death but Ely has him and the rest beat. He doesn't
mind them running, jumping, making loud noises. He just wants to be right
there in the middle of it all. He does take breaks now and then to come
play with Fancy and harrass her (he's been practicing his growl-talk since
he first discovered he could do it about 2 weeks ago..he gets loud too),
play tug games with her, nap with her and bite her legs only to then get
growled at and go running back to Amie or any other child he can find. He's
such a happy-go-lucky little social bug. He's now up to 23lbs, 19" tall
(I believe, its been a week since I measured him) and 17 weeks. Covered
in demodex too.

Fancy loved the little girls too and was very wiggly but she's fairly
reserved with
kids. I don't know why she's that way. She'll eat up any child who comes
to her
ready to give attention but she doesn't actually go up to them to ask for
it. She
tends to stay about 3 feet away, watching hopefully to see if the child will
come to
her rather than just go up and shove her head under their hand like she does
with
adults.

That's a boxer for you. My foundation bitch (who would leave the
bedroom with a great sigh of inconvenience when I had bronchitis and
my coughing was disturbing her beauty sleep!) would nap in the living
room on the floor while my niece and nephew ran screaming around her,
including jumping from furniture to furniture OVER her body. (we
stopped it once we realized they were doing it) She had an enormous
room to observe from, but she had to be right in the MIDDLE of the
action.
