If you have one handy, get a portable tape recorder (like the onces
reporters use or something like that) and keep it handy. If it happens
again, record it and then you can bring it to the vet. It will make the
diagnosis easier. (At the very least you won't be forced to try to imitate
the sounds he made and have the vet look at you like some kind of freak.
Not that that has ever happened to me. It was the guy in front of me. Yeah,
that's it.)

If the vet says its just reverse sneezing then steel yourself against
reacting when it happens. Some dogs, I kid you not, figure out that doing
this gets them attention. It sounds preposterous but its true. Also,
should your dog appear to be having an extended attack and seems distressed
you can cup your hand around the nose and give one quick blow of air to the
nostrils. That usually stops the sneezing.
