Default Why does this dog lick or eat nasal mucus?

Does anyone know why this dog eats or licks our nasal mucus and regular
mucus including tears? ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mucus ) I don't
think they the taste like someone wrote somewhere else.

I'm wondering if dogs were made to be our natural tissue. Maybe in a
time without tissues, dogs were licking up the bacteria in runny noses
and from sneezes. They lick cuts and dry skin or psoriasis with their
bacteria fighting stuff in their saliva, why not mucus?

"Nose-picking may carry a number of medical risks, including causing
nasal infections and nosebleeds. Most authorities recommend using a
tissue." - ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nose-picking )

Some guy says, "eating the bacteria-rich dried mucus offers a boost to
the immune system, and is analogous to immunization." - (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nose-picking )

Is there anything about dogs and mucus somewhere that we can read?

not sure how good of an idea this was. i got sick after letting the dog
lick some nasal mucus from my left nostril. when i woke up my left
nostril was stuffed. still no solid facts to backup the ideas. this is
just my experience. consult your local vetrenarian.
