I have taken my 8 year old Border Collie to the vet have had blood test
and oral solution and x-rays taken and everything has come back negative for everything possible wrong with her...She won't eat and if she does throws up 5 to 8 hours later a yellowish bile and no food obvoiusly because she won't eat more than a teaspoon full of food. I am running out of options and I am not sure what is wrong with her can anyone help...(she has also lost 8 pounds in over the course of a month.) |

What has your vet tested for and what has been ruled out? Also, were any tests repeated in case there were lab errors? Personally, I'd be taking my dog and the test results to a vet specialist RIGHT NOW. Where I live, they work out of an emergency hospital. Our emergency hospital operates 24/7 and they have a variety of specialists on staff and consultants that come in on a regular basis. -- Lynne "Every once in a while, the tables are turned and we get to share our lives with an animal who takes care of their human." - Tara, rpdb |

Ok went back to the vet, they gave her Laxatone (basically vasoline) to
see if it would wash down and lube up the partial blockage. The vet said he thinks it is not a growth but a foreign object. My dog still will not eat but possibly two bites, my boyfriend is force feeding it with a syringe. They said the next choice was exploratory surgery. Does anyone else know anything or anything to try...Please let me know...I am a college student and cannot seriously afford a lot of this, it is already up to $2000. |

Where is it? buglady take out the dog before replying |

Ok well update...bad update to say the least...we did the exploratory
surgery today and her stomach is full of cancer, right now we have her on a feeding tube awaiting results of what type of cancer...but it looks like we will be putting her to sleep....Sorry to tell you all of this...as figured my boyfriend and I are taking this very hard...on a better note we did take her to a new vet that actually did something instead of just play it by ear, like the first vet wanted to do... |

I am so very sorry to hear this. And I agree, I'm glad the new vet chose to take action and find out what was wrong. He may have saved your girl a whole lot of pain by doing that. I hope the cancer is one that can be dealt with. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. Tara |

What a shock. I'm glad at least you got a vet to actually take some steps to figure out what's going on. Hoping for the best for your pup. buglady take out the dog before replying |
