She went to Mexico for a long vacation and left the dog in the back yard, trusting neighbors to throw food over the fence. Home Visit Checklist?

I know Lab rescue is FULL! Always FULL. So a vast majority never make it to rescue but instead they are at shelters and *many* times they are getting euthanized. Now of course the irresponsible BYB's are to blame for this in most cases. Nobody is to blame for killing dogs but the people who kill them, Gwen. We could do the same thing with children, but we don't kill children out of "kindness" when they don't have a home or because of "lack of space and resources" and we don't blame the mothers for the children we kill, because we don't kill the children. We kill dogs because we get paid to kill dogs. Sally will explain that to you. Any questions? Backyard breeders don't kill dogs. People like Sally do, while she sat on the Board, as president, of the Animal Protection League. Sally has lots of blood on her hands. A Backyard breeder makes dogs live. Sally and her ilk make them dead. m life live.. dogtv. dott com Though I suspect there have been enough ppl obtain from responsible breeders as well and a dog still ends up in a shelter. Gwen |

It's easy to be sensitive after you murdered your own Boxer, and when
you are a respected Boxer "rescuer" in the SE US. I can see why you are sensitive to someone like Gwen questioning the credentials of home visit checkers. Maybe Gwen should have an application for them to fill out before they do the home visit. Home Visitor Questionnaire 1. Have you killed any of your own dogs? 2. If so, why? 3. When you killed them, was there anyone else offering the dog a home? 4. If so, why did you murder your own dog when someone else was willing to rescue the boxer from the boxer rescuer? micha elreportinglive http://dogtv.com/ Tara O. wrote: "Gwen Watson" wrote in message ... Common excuse for so many dogs today. And again HV? Lack of committment would sum it up nicely. Ummmmmmm like I said manditory training is critical for a good relationship. Very few of our dogs go out of this rescue needing alot of training. Who said alot. But they haven't been trained by new owner. Very critical. Each persons style and tone is different. They learn basic manners, basic commands and are worked with on any issues like mouthing or jumping up. Basic obedience for these dogs would really be just reiteration. -- Tara No not just to reiterate but to get a bond and respect between the dog and new owner. You know, after the really cheap shot you made about rescuers and having killed a dog for lack of control, your other snide comments, and the really BITCHY tone of the first few comments in this post, you don't deserve a response. I'm going to give one to you though before I place you in my killfile, where you so richly deserve to be after this afternoon's comments. 1. Homevisits don't tell you **** about how a dog and adopter will bond 2. Homevisits don't tell you **** about how the two dogs will do living together 3. Obedience clauses have been in my adoption contract for 2 years 4. It was me who stated that the biggest benefit is the bonding issue, something you're now talking about when before it was "training & safety" being the critical points. Cya |

How shocking and you have done the wonderful HV and there is still dog/dog problems. in the home and a lack of bonding between adopter and dog so the little things (things normal to the breed) get under the adopter's skin too easily.
